Marriott International’s original and nonconformist brand ‘W’’ is landing for the first time in Italy with a project called: W Rome.
Eclettico (the Lombardin22 Group’s brand focused on design for the hospitality and luxury residential sectors) is in charge of the building’s architectural design and renovation, coordinating an international team, interfacing with Marriot – managing the documentation so that it conforms to the chain’s standards – and also the design of the plant-engineering and acoustics and site supervision. The interior design will bear the hallmark of the New York-based firm Meyer Davis.
The hotel, located close to Via Veneto, will extend across 2 buildings of notable architectural quality dating back to the 19th century. The 2 buildings, which have 6 floors above ground, will be joined together by a central section acting as a new reception. The hotel will have 159 rooms and suites. Considerable importance will be given to the socialising spaces: W Living Room, a Lobby that will not just be a reception and transition place but also somewhere to be inhabited, two restaurants and over 120 square metres of event space, as well as a gym and spa. A rooftop bar on the top-floor terraces will round off the ‘W Experience’.
Building work is already underway; the Mock-up (or sample) Room will be ready by summer 2019. The hotel will open in 2021.
