The building the hotel stands in today dates back to the 16th century and began as a Capuchin Convent; it is still one of the symbols of the Amalfi Coast and is enveloped in a particular charm suspended in time.
Nh Collection Grand Hotel Convento is perched on a promontory and is magnificently appointed, with a 180° vista overlooking the sea. In 1885 the structure was converted into a hotel. For reasons of tourism development, another series of expansions and transformations was undertaken. Today, after unified and above all respectful restoration of what was once the monastery, you can once again breath the atmosphere and the peace of long ago. The sacredness of the place can be felt throughout: in the rediscovered sacristy, in the private chapel, in the rooms – once the monks’ cells – in the suites that were formerly the rooms of the Praetor or the Refectory Hall, in the cloister, and along the paths beneath the pergolas of wisteria and bougainvillea that cover the avenues on the different terraces where the monks loved to pause in meditation or in prayer.

- One of the most beautiful infinity pools on the whole coast. Don’t miss a dip at sunset basking in the view of the sea of Amalfi merging into the blue sky.
The Hotel
What were built as the cells of the monks, way back in 1583, have today been converted into 53 wonderful rooms and suites with minimal chic design, thanks to skilful renovation works. Almost all the rooms have their own connotations and many suites have a decidedly quirky character: at one time they were the refectory of the convent or the prior’s room. Among the innovations unveiled for the 2019 season are the suites with a private Jacuzzi on the terrace.
The Health & Beauty Area, located on the 8th floor of the hotel, is a cosy, welcoming environment where you can relax and bask in the atmosphere of calm and wellbeing.
The hotel offers several culinary options: in fact, you can choose from three restaurants. Ristorante dei Cappuccini, on the top floor of the hotel, is open for dinner, while for lunch you can savour prime local ingredients in La Locanda Restaurant. Lastly, Bar dei Cappuccini is ideal for cocktails, aperitifs, and refreshing drinks and snacks.
