Mammà restaurant in Capri is one of those temples of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine
that simply have to be tried at least once.
Not only an icon of style, a favourite haunt of the international jet set, and the perfect destination for some late-spring tourism, Capri is also the kingdom of the finest Neapolitan gastronomic tradition. And one of the jewels in the crown of the island’s culinary offerings is unquestionably Mammà, the restaurant established in 2013 upon an initiative of Gennaro Esposito, who then entrusted the management of the kitchens to chef Salvatore La Ragione (1 Michelin star). And with two chefs of this calibre, Mammà restaurant could not fail to become a must for those seeking a gastronomic experience of the highest level.
It took chef La Ragione less than a year to earn the well-deserved Michelin Star (in 2014), a star he continues to hold, thanks to the marvellous dishes he creates, skilfully mixing locally-sourced ingredients with great inventiveness and ability to produce the perfection of flavours, colours, tradition and modernity that few chefs manage to do.
A few dishes to whet your appetite? Seafood tagliatelle with sprouts, traditional Neapolitan mixed fry, and the chef’s characteristic ‘raw fish specialities’, just to get us started. And then paccheri with meat sauce, vermicelli with sea urchins, ravioli with shrimp, provola cheese and porcini, shellfish Catalana, and fish steak au gratin with caprese. In short, if you are planning a holiday in the gorgeous Gulf of Naples, don’t miss a trip to Capri, wonderful as ever and, to conclude, lunch or dinner to remember, in Mammà.
The restaurant is a short stroll from the historic piazza, has a spectacular terrace with a view over the Gulf of Naples, and is part of the Manfredi Fine Hotel Collection.
