For 150 years, the cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo have guarded an oenological heritage famous throughout the world for its rarity. The largest wine cellar in the world located in a hotel celebrate the anniversary with events not to be missed
Vinitaly is approaching but for wine lovers there is also another event not to be missed. In fact, in addition to the international wine and spirits exhibition which will take place in Verona from 14 to 17 April, the key event is the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo.
Carved into the rock beneath the palace in January 1874, the cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo extend over an area of 1,500 square metres.
Immersed in silence and coolness, they house over 350,000 bottles spread over 1.5 kilometres, with around 6,000 different references.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary, the cellars renew their appearance and reveal the first phase of their metamorphosis. That is, a new entrance and a new reception and tasting room, designed with the Moinard studio.
The second phase is expected between November 2024 and March 2025.
As part of the celebrations, the cellars will host exclusive dinners.
11 June 2024: Dinner Tenuta San Guido – Bolgheri, directed by Yannick Alleno. It will be preceded by a Master Class held by sommeliers and a private tasting with Mrs. Priscilla Incisa Della Rocchetta of the Tuscan estate Tenuta San Guido, which produces the great Sassicaia.
7 November 2024: Moët Hennessy dinner by Emmanuel Pilon, chef of Louis XV – Alain Ducasse at the Hôtel de Paris. Preceded by a tasting. And also from a conference on the theme “Climate change and its effects on the Champagne region”, this dinner will conclude the celebrations.
From April to October 2024, guests of the restaurants of the Resort Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer will be able to taste a selection of great French wines by the glass. The wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhone Valley and the Loire have been carefully selected by the Group’s sommeliers and will be included to complete the wine lists.
Furthermore, to celebrate 150 years, the Caves de l’Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo return to their original production tradition. In fact they create the “Grande Champagne Premier Cru de Cognac”. That is, a very refined, ultra old XO quality cognac from Champagne. This old XO is produced exclusively with spirits from the best vineyards of Grande Champagne. For example, Segonzac St Preuil and Bonneuil.
This unique cuvée is available in the bars of the Resort Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, at Les Caves de l’Hôtel de Paris and in the boutique of the Casino de Monte-Carlo.
