An alliance has been struck between Romantik and Gondwana Collection Namibia

Gondwana Collection Namibia

Romantik and Gondwana Collection Namibia have teamed up with an innovative strategic partnership in Africa:
staff exchanges and joint marketing activities are planned

Strength lies in unity, and the hotel industry is no exception. The most recent example is the strategic partnership in Africa between Romantik Hotels & Restaurants and Gondwana Collection Namibia. The goal of the alliance is to guarantee guests service that is increasingly up to date, as is confirmed by Thomas Edelkamp, CEO of Romantik Hotels & Restaurants: “The partnership with Gondwana Collection opens new scenarios of experiences for guests of Romantik in fabulous accommodation in Namibia. The Gondwana lodges are unique, just like the unique and extraordinary nature and landscape of this African country.”

Most of the tourists who visit Namibia come from Germany. The country has just over 2 million inhabitants, and on account of its colonial past, around 20,000 German citizens live there. Hence, Mannfred Goldbeck, director of the Gondwana Collection, is looking forward to having a new partner by his side from one of their main tourism markets: “Romantik and Gondwana share the same values. These are extraordinary experiences and attention to the guests. This connection is perfect.”

Fast & easy reservations and joint marketing
In order to allow Romantik customers to travel to Namibia and Gondwana fans to find their way to Germany in future, the hotels will be reciprocally bookable through the partners’ respective sales channels. In addition, joint marketing activities are programmed on social media and elsewhere.
For example, Romantik has a lifestyle magazine with an annual circulation of more than 100,000 copies, sold through almost 500 newsagents and also published online. Gondwana also reaches out to its guests, both online and directly in the hotels with a high-quality magazine. Furthermore, the brand proposes a variety of offers on Internet, such as a YouTube channel dedicated to its more than 20 lodges.

Training exchange
“Over the last few years we have achieved great success in our collaboration with Les Collectionneurs in France and Secret Retreats in Asia, and we are now using our experience to bring Romantik into the next continent. In addition to marketing our stays and experiences, we also want to organize an intense staff exchange with Gondwana,” says Thomas Edelkamp. “The goal is to provide staff from Africa with the opportunity to receive training and get work in Europe. Similarly, the Romantik staff in 9 European countries will have the opportunity to work in southern Africa. In this way, we offer exchange opportunities that our employees could only find by working in multinational companies,” says Edelkamp. And Mannfred Goldbeck adds: “With Gondwana Collection we want to give Namibia and the people who live here a future. With Romantik by our side, we will reach another important milestone.

For over 20 years, the Gondwana Collection has been constructing extraordinary lodges immersed in the natural wonders of Namibia. The houses, often converted from historic farms respecting the traditions of the country, are managed sustainably and offer every possible comfort. There are now more than 20 lodges and a hotel in the Gondwana Collection. All the accommodation is located in the immediate vicinity of an extraordinary place.
