Hotel chains: new openings and expansion strategies

catene alberghiere

The good health of the hotel sector is confirmed by the expansion projects and new openings by the most important international hotel chains. And there is also no shortage of large investments for the restyling of existing structures with a view to increasing guest satisfaction

What are the growth plans of the main hotel chains? Which countries are the investments targeting? Here are the cases of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Bulgarella Group, Ragosta Hotels Collection, Leonardo Hotels and Blu Hotels.
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts
In the coming months a second Four Seasons hotel will open in Doha, located in The Pearl-Qatar and a third hotel will be inaugurated in Morocco, in the country’s capital, Rabat.

Over the next few years, the company’s Italian portfolio will be further enriched with the opening of a new seaside resort in Puglia and the planned conversion of the Hotel Danieli in Venice into a unique Four Seasons experience.

Looking even further ahead, the hotel group announced several projects in Egypt (Luxor and Cairo New Capital) and Saudi Arabia (Jeddah, Diriyah, NEOM’s Sindalah Island and Red Sea’s Shura Island), new developments in Muscat, Oman and the conversion of
Hotel Formentor in Mallorca, Spain, in a Four Seasons resort.

Ragosta Hotels Collection

Creativity, innovation and customisation: these are the characteristics that distinguish the managerial management of the Italian hotel group Ragosta Hotels Collection.

This is how a program of special training courses aimed at staff at all levels and for all hotels, from Rome to Taormina, passing through Vietri sul Mare, begins. The courses are managed by reference professional figures not necessarily connected to the hotel world in order to offer a broad-spectrum vision and training.

We start from technical courses, such as foreign languages and sign language (LIS) but also stress management, etiquette, “strategic make up” or tricks to present oneself at their best on every occasion.

Ragosta Hotels Collection includes 4 properties in some of the most significant locations on the Peninsula: Palazzo Montemartini Rome, A Radisson Collection Hotel; the Hotel Raito Amalfi Coast; the Relais Paradiso and La Plage Resort Taormina.

Bulgarella Group

The redevelopment interventions of the Hotel Bristol in Viareggio by the Bulgarella Group, owner of the hotel real estate asset, have begun. Furthermore, the restyling of the Hotel Viareggio, which is still part of the Group, will also begin shortly.

For Bristol this is a huge investment of 10 million euros which will lead to the reopening of the redeveloped structure in just under 2 years. The project bears the signature of the engineer Ignazio Bulgarella, for the structural part, and of the architect Giuseppe Cosentino, for the architectural sphere.

It foresees an increase in accommodation capacity. Furthermore, the structural consolidation of the existing parts and the renovation of the systems. Finally, a reorganization of the internal distribution of spaces.

The increase in accommodation will see the installation of a steel structure. Raised above the original core, it will house the restaurant, the service kitchen and an infinity pool with sea view.

Also in Viareggio, the Bulgarella Group has taken on the direct management of the 4-star Hotel Viareggio. The structure, a few steps from the suggestive city seafront, is characterized by modern lines, with a concept based on an ecological choice of natural materials and cutting-edge technologies.

Leonardo Hotels
The hotel group is aiming for new hotels, new markets and a new brand. One of the hotel company’s objectives is strategic expansion into the French market. Indeed, facilities in Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Lyon or Strasbourg are the focus of attention and will form the basis for sustainable growth in the country.

The company also intends to expand the Leonardo Limited Edition brand. Launched just a few months ago, it includes a sought-after selection of independent hotels. It will soon be launched across Europe. Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is not solely focused on portfolio expansion.

The hotel group is also investing in the renovation and maintenance works of existing hotels. For example, next year the 449 rooms of the Leonardo Royal Frankfurt will get a makeover.

Blue Hotels

Blu Hotels

Blu Hotels turns 30 years old. In fact, it was 1993 when Nicola Risatti, with his cousin Fabrizio Piantoni, Vice President, decided to found Blu Hotels.
In the year in which it turns thirty, the chain sees the number of structures increase up to 30. They are all 4-star hotels and villages for a total of over 3,000 rooms in renowned tourist locations by the sea, in the mountains and on the lakes.
New acquisitions are expected in the near future. Furthermore, the renovations will continue. And the IT part will be updated to keep up with competitors.
