Here are 4 fully customizable trips from CartOrange and still bookable for the summer holidays.
Sardinia from North to South
The 6-9 day car itinerary in Sardinia starts from Cagliari. It unravels in the direction of Sulcis, with a visit to the Porto Flavia mine. It is one of the most incredible and fascinating in Italy with its direct view of the sea, and at the Serbariu Coal Museum.
The journey continues by touching the Nuragic site of Barumini, the Gesturi plateau with its wild horses, the Aymerich Park in Laconi with its rare botanical species and the spa town of Fordongianus.
And again Nuoro, the Athens of Sardinia, and then Barbagia, to be discovered also through culinary experiences such as lunch with the shepherds, the preparation of paneddas and the bakery workshop in Lollove. Finally, you arrive at the Gulf of Orosei, where you can relax in the coves or go trekking, and the archipelago of La Maddalena, to be visited on a boat trip.
Valle d’Itria and Matera
A 6-9 day self-drive itinerary in Puglia. The first part of the holiday is based in a resort near Polignano a Mare, famous for its houses perched on the white cliffs typical of the area.
Here you can combine sea and relaxation with private boat excursions, guided tours of the city, visits to the cellars of the Itria Valley with an oenologist with wine and product tasting, an excursion to Alberobello with dinner in a trullo.
We then move to Monopoli and finally Matera, a Unesco heritage city, to be visited with a modern eco-sustainable gig, and where you can taste typical dishes in traditional taverns or charming restaurants carved into the stone.
The last stop is Altamura, where a cooking class will allow you to discover the secrets of traditional bread and focaccia.
Portugal on the road
An itinerary to be covered by car in 10-12 days to touch the most beautiful places in Portugal. Lisbon and Porto with their alleys full of history, culture and gastronomic traditions; the Atlantic coast where “the world ends”; and then the baroque jewels of Coimbra and Braga, the mystical charm of the Templar castle in Tomar and the beauties of the Alentejo, with its landscapes dotted with olive trees and its villages with a thousand-year history, such as Evora.
Israel and Jordan: a mosaic of wonders
A fascinating journey between sacred places, millenary historic buildings and landscapes of extraordinary beauty, lasting 10-12 days. First stop is Amman, the capital of Jordan that combines ancient and modern, surrounded by unmissable archaeological sites such as the Roman city of Jerash, the Ajiloun fortress and the Gadara decapolis, now Umm Quays.
The second stage is dedicated to the Dead Sea, with baths and spa treatments. We then move to Madaba, the “city of mosaics”, to Mount Nebo. In addition to the Shobak Castle, and you arrive in Petra, the ancient city of the Nabataeans carved into a gorge with very high cliffs. The next day we will visit another Nabataean city, Beida, and continue to the Wadi Rum desert, or Valley of the Moon, where we will spend the night in a tented camp.
After another day in Amman on your own, we leave with an organized transfer to Israel. The tour includes Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
