Ballet, performance art and music shows. But also plays staged by world productions. The season of the Opera House Muscat is full of stars to admire. And in December, the spectacular stage will be the Italian pride and étoile of the Teatro alla Scala Roberto Bolle with his Roberto Bolle & Friends
If you are planning a trip to Oman you cannot miss one of the shows of the Opera House Muscat. Indeed, the 2022-2023 season of Opera House Muscat is full of excellent productions in terms of ballet, performance art and music and theater performances.
The season begins on October 17 with a show dedicated to Omani Women’s Day. It is a show that highlights the extraordinary female performances in the artistic, musical and cultural fields on the day dedicated to women for the Sultanate of Oman.
The most relevant performances on next season’s calendar
OPERA:
- Homage to ‘The Swan of Pesaro’, with The Rossini Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the famous conductor Nikolas Nägele on 25 October.
- The Elixir of Love, a work by Donizetti, will be performed on 5 and 7 January 2023 by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, conducted by Jordi Bernacer accompanied by his star-studded cast.
- The Marriage of Figaro, represented by the Accademia Teatro alla Scala under the historic direction of Giorgio Strehler, on 16 and 18 February 2023.
- A Venetian evening with ‘I Solisti Veneti’, conducted by the famous conductor Giuliano Carella, scheduled for 17 February.
- Opera Hits, with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.
- So Fan Tutti, by the famous composer Mozart, performed by Opera Australia on 4 and 6 May 2023.
THEATER FOR FAMILIES:
- Hänsel and Gretel, the famous German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, interpreted by the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
- The comic opera “Zorba The Greek” and “El Leila El Kebira”, performed by Cairo Opera House on 28 and 29 October.
BALLET:
- The étoile of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Roberto Bolle, will perform at the ROHM with his prestigious show Roberto Bolle & Friends on 15 and 16 December.
- The romantic ballet Giselle, performed by the Rome Opera House on 9.10 and 11 March 2023, in collaboration with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.
- Carousel, performed by Kataklo Athletic Dance Theater on December 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
INTERNATIONAL MUSIC SHOWS:
- Nikolai Kuznetsov and the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra, represented by Alessandro Cadario on November 28th.
- Kulthumiyat, with the participation of Yosra Manouch and Mai Farouk, scheduled for 9 and 11 December.
- The Global Music Ensemble, with guests from all over the world, scheduled for December 3rd.
- Gile Bae with the Armenina State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jan Latham-Koenig, scheduled for December 31st.
- Beyond Time, a drum show, represented by U-Theater from Taiwan, March 17-18, 2023.
- Military Music: Oman and the World, the program offers performances celebrating the pomp of Oman’s military and police bands, scheduled for 3, 4 and 5 November.
- Costa Rica Virtuoso Guitars, an ensemble of elite musicians, scheduled for 2 and 3 February 2023.
- ‘The Accademia Stauffer’, where all the stars of the Orchestra will participate, on May 5, 2023.
- An incredible performance with the organ, the Pipe Organ Concert, conducted by Wayne Marshall with the participation of the Boys Choir of Chech ‘Boni Pueri’, scheduled for May 13, 2023.
- The extraordinary Folk Festival, scheduled for 26 and 25 January 2023.
- African star Fatoumata Diawara will perform on February 9 and 10, 2023.
SPECTACULAR SHOWS, JAZZ:
- Kenny Garret and his performance “Sound of the Ancestors”, scheduled for January 19th and 20th 2023.
- An evening with Chris Botti, American trumpeter and composer, on 10 and 11 November.
Royal Opera House Muscat continues its popular series of Arabic performances with spectacular productions and some of the biggest names in Arabic music:
- Iraqi singer and composer Kadim Alsahir will perform at the ROHM in an exciting musical show. Kulthumiyat, with the participation of Yosra Manouch and Mai Farouk.
- Oman Traditional Music, which explores the rich cultural and musical heritage of Oman.
- Omani Women’s Day, to celebrate the inestimable contribution of women in the communities, recognizing in particular their musical, artistic and cultural performances.
- Hussain Al Jassmi returns to the Opera House for the second time by popular demand on 2 and 3 March 2023.
- Ramadhan and Inshaad Praise, March 30, April 6 and 10, 2023.
- Assi El Hallani will close the season with Marwa Nagy, who will perform on the last two evenings of 18 and 19 May 2023.
EXHIBITIONS
The permanent exhibition Oman and the World: a Musical Journey, explores the history of music around the world. The exhibition explains and demonstrates the impact of music on people and society.
It will be held from 10 to 18 from Saturday to Thursday, at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts.
