As Europe eases out of lockdown, Italy has officially announced that starting June 3 longer will be any travel restrictions for visitors from the UK and European travelers, and with that comes the news of Como’s first and only contemporary luxury hotel, which returns with considerable updates to their guest experience to ensure visitors feel as safe, comfortable and relaxed as possible.

Hotel measures include only opening 20 of their 30 waterfront suites; each spacious suite boasts floor to ceiling windows and enjoys iconic lake views from a large furnished terrace.

Il Sereno was designed to invite the beauty and nature of the outside in, so is blessed with large outdoor spaces for guest services (should guests require) through to dining and relaxation.

The hotel team is commited to executing the highest standards of hygiene and safety, going above and beyond the government’s requirements. It offers guests the most modern technology in ventilation systems, UVC Robots, Ozone cleaning systems and any unnecessary staff/guest interaction has been streamlined to ensure visitors feel a warm welcome but also feel safe and able to relax.

Flight time from the UK to the nearest airport is a mere two hours with a short transfer by car or helicopter to the hotel.

New additions originally planned for the 2020 season include five-course, seven-course and vegetarian tasting menus at Michelin Starred restaurant Berton Al Lago and the new In-Room Tasting Menu, the unique romantic experience of Michelin Star dining on your own private terrace. New Valmont spa treatments and ‘Electra’, the First commercial electric private Riva yacht on the lake, built by Cantiere Ernesto Riva.

“A key focus at design stage was that this property was to be ultra luxurious, intimate and private. Il Sereno already lends itself to new hotel requirments in terms of it’s size, it has a very small number of rooms (suite only and the rooms and public spaces are very spacious). We originally invested in the most modern technology in ventilation systems, with the restaurant and lobby being as if you are outside on the lake. Much of the hotel already complied with strict Italian distancing guidelines before we introduced any changes”. He continued “Although we will begin the season with less clients, it was important for us to bring back our full team for the opening so our service levels will be better than ever!”

Il Sereno’s Michelin Starred restaurant, Berton Al Lago, is led by celebrated Milan-based restaurateur and chef Andrea Berton. With more than 27 years of industry experience, Chef Berton has earned four Michelin Stars across three different restaurants. At Berton Al Lago, Executive Chef Raffaele Lenzi, brings Berton’s vision to life, responsible for the daily culinary operations. Together Berton and Lenzi deliver “Italian dishes that are enhanced with a modern twist” which can be seen in simple yet imaginative takes on classic dishes using the finest, seasonal ingredients.

Experience Lake Como by private yacht. When not enjoying the 60-foot-long freshwater infinity pool suspended over the lake, guests can travel around the lake in style, in the hotel’s custom-built private yachts by Cantiere Ernesto Riva, including two wooden beauties that are rented to clients, no boating license needed.

Il Sereno’s very own Maserati Quattroporte, featuring an Ermenegildo Zegna leather and silk interior, is available for private transfer for guests to and from Milan Malpensa Airport or to enjoy cruising around the roads of Lake Como for the duration of a guest’s visit. F

or guest looking for a quick arrival time, the hotel has introduced an exclusive helicopter package. Guests are transported by helicopter straight to the tranquillity of the lake. Dependent on location, transfers can be organized from either Milan, Venice, Monaco, or Cannes airports to arrive in Lake Como in under half an hour.

The SPA at Il Sereno by Valmont will unveil Purity, the ultimate anti-aging facial and body treatment designed to lift, sculpt and firm skin using Valmont’s Prime Renewing Pack, V-Shape Filling Cream and Super Helix Treatment.

The SPA at Il Sereno is a tranquil and restorative haven located along the banks of Lake Como in the darsena (old boathouse building).
